WE ARE PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT LABASH 2017 WILL BE HOSTED BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
This coming year will mark the 47th LABash conference, an annual student-planned conference for landscape architecture students and professionals in North America. This year’s conference will be held at the University of Maryland from March 23-25, 2017.
Landscape architecture professionals, current students and professionals from related fields such as urban planning, architecture, urban design, and art join to celebrate landscape architecture, learn new skills, network with other students and prospective employers, and gain inspiration for their work and future career. The conference allows students to develop educationally and professionally as young landscape architects. Most importantly, the conference instills in students a sense of empowerment, community, and a drive to succeed.
ABOUT OUR
THEME
Our theme provokes ideas about landscape architecture’s relationship with art, history, and time. This theme sends an inspiring message to the next generation of professionals to take their work to the next level - putting passion and hard work into making every design “monumental”- no matter the scale or location. Let us leave a timeless and awe-inspiring mark on our world.
“Monumental” describes the nature of Washington D.C.’s urban fabric, where landscapes often serve as monuments in memoriam of historical people and events. Being so close to our nation’s capital, we hope to give attendees the opportunity to explore and learn about the unique urban landscape of Washington D.C.
